The ground floor

The sitting room with dining area is a spacious room featuring high ceilings. Decorated in quiet hues of mauve, café au lait and eau de nil, the cottage has an impressive carved fireplace which surrounds a gas fire. Large light windows give views onto the cobbled courtyard as well as the garden behind.

The kitchen is well equipped with state of the art appliances. The fridge/freezer, oven and dishwasher are all cleverly integrated, giving a sleek and modern feel.

From the kitchen you step outside into a small private garden with a table, chairs and parasol. From there, a pathway leads towards the Pleasure Gardens, Garden Wood and car parking area. The garden has views onto lawn and beech hedges which give a sense of privacy – the perfect place for quiet moments or an evening cocktail.

The conversion of this cottage was supported by the Rural Development Programme for England, for which Defra is the Managing Authority, part financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas.

“A wonderful & refreshing short stay at Combermere. The cottage is in an idyllic setting, I loved the enchanting woodland by the lake as did my dogs! The cottage itself provides everything you need & more. A hidden delightful gem.”

The first floor

Callander cottage has two lovely light bedrooms with high ceilings and oak beams and a large contemporary bathroom with separate shower and bath and heated towel rail.

The twin room has a fresh green palette of floral and stripe fabrics and hints of golden pine from the doors. The single beds, set against a connected headboard, can be made into a double bed. There is also a built-in cupboard and dressing table/desk.

The double bedroom mixes large prints of parrot tulips with strong plain linens and a hit of fur over the large king size bed. The well-designed cupboard and dressing table/desk complete the room. Views from the bedroom show the ancient walls of the gardens and different seasonal colours of the Pleasure Garden arboretum.
