Meet the Family

Peter Beckett has had successful careers in advertising, horse-racing and banking before setting up his own companies through which he carries out project management and building restoration. He is a great proponent of bringing working people back into the countryside and most enjoys reviving existing, redundant structures to give them a new lease of life. Married to Sarah and father to Peregrine he enjoys all sporting pursuits as well as travelling and landscape painting.

Sarah Callander Beckett, known as SCB, inherited the estate and returned to take responsibility for Combermere in 1992. Following a Marketing and PR career in the Far East and USA, she is passionately committed to its renaissance and the restoration of its buildings and land. She is very proud of the team she leads and their shared energy and enthusiasm for its success. Married to Peter, and Mum to Peregrine her work keeps her very busy. She enjoys languages, travelling and connecting her friends.

I have lived all my life at Combermere. I enjoy all sports in particular golf, rugby, skiing and waterskiing. I have a 7 year old Labrador called Zanzie. Before going to University in September 2016 to study international business, I am working in France and hoping to travel abroad. I also enjoy art, and have a small business drawing pets.

With her passion and flair for weddings, Rachel joined the Weddings Team in 2015. She will ensure that your special day is everything you dreamed of and more, supporting you as you book your dream venue through to walking hand in hand as newlyweds.

Ashleigh Taylor

After originally joining Combermere in 2010 as part of the weddings team, Ashleigh then spent a year fulfilling her dream to travel to countries on her wish list. On re-joining the team her role also focusses on our luxurious on site accommodation and providing guests with a truly memorable stay.

House Manager/Guest Relations

Stephan, originally from South Africa is the longest serving full time member of Staff, joining in 2001. His roles are many and varied. Stephan’s present role of Guest Relations Manager fulfils his passion for excellent customer service. A keen car enthusiast and woodworker Stephan can often be seen driving around the estate in his classic MX5

Charles Pratt

Front of House Duty Manager

Charles has worked in the design and hospitality areas for many years. He joined the Combermere team three years ago, alongside Gary, as one of the two fronts of house. He is a traveller, collector and cook.

Operations and Housekeeping

Jeanette Miller

Operations & Housekeeping Manager

A busy mum of 3 Jeanette joined Combermere as housekeeper in 2008. She is now also responsible for the operational running and up keep of all areas of our beautiful wedding venue. Exceeding guest’s expectations and ensuring their Combermere experience is a magical one is her ultimate aim.

Beverley Loydall-Worrad

Bev joined us in April 2014 and was promoted to supervisor in April 2015. Having traveled far and wide across the globe on the motor sport circuit Bev has settled back in Shropshire and made Combermere her second home. She is a keen baker and is always bringing in cakes and biscuits to motivate the staff.

Sue Stokes

Sue joined the team in April 2013. She was promoted to supervisor in April 2015 and takes pride in her job. She cares deeply about all areas of her responsibility and loves gardening and travelling when not at work. Another classic car fanatic, you can see her regularly a passenger in her husband's Morris Minor.

Heather Linney

Joined Combermere in 2007 and is the wearer of many hats from being Sarah CB’s PA to organising the annual bluebell walk and various estate events, along with public and group tours of the Abbey and gardens along with location bookings for TV and film. Hobbies include clay shooting and is a keen gardener as well as being a devoted mum to Ernie, the characterful Parsons Russell Terrier.

Financial Comptroller

Audrey Williams

With her expertise in agricultural finance, Audrey took on Combermere as one of her clients in 2001, helping to develop and grow the business from a predominantly farming operation, through to the tourism and weddings and events business that it is today. She manages all things financial as well as mucking in and helping out the team on estate events. Audrey is at her happiest when wearing wellies with a dog at her side or being creative in the kitchen.

Maintenance Team


Shane has worked at Combermere for over 10 years and is happiest when there is mud involved. His knowledge is invaluable and he always gets to the bottom of any problems. The man to call in any crisis. He loves archaeology and historical places so Combermere is his perfect job.


Aaron has been here nearly 4 years and he claims to be the only Welsh man working here. A builder by trade Aaron gets all the heavy jobs but enjoys nothing more than a spot of fishing in his spare time.
