Combermere Abbey, with its extraordinary 900 year history, its historic buildings, and varied landscape provides a remarkable canvas of opportunities for video, advertising and still photographic use. Its location at the centre of a 1000 acre estate guarantees the privacy and quiet required for filming.  Situated just 50 miles from Manchester, and 20 miles from Chester and Shrewsbury, it has excellent access from road and rail, plenty of parking and a professional well run estate office to deal with enquiries. Any booking is supported by our onsite House Manager, who will ensure things run smoothly. Award winning accommodation in 9 courtyard self-catering cottages is also available on the property.


Combermere has been used on a variety of occasions as a location for feature films, TV, magazine location for fashion and accessories and advertising.


The Abbey

This grade 1 listed building with its Gothic features and striking location at the edge of a 150 acre lake offers a variety of architectural styles and lots of choice:

A range of paneled rooms – the Library, dating back to the 16th century, and originally the Abbotts lodge, powerfully decorated in carvings. The dining room with its paneling, Gothic windows and carved fireplace.

The Porters Hall – early Gothic and elegant with triple windows at both ends and cluster columns and marble fireplace.

Impressive hallways and a variety of elegant rooms throughout.


 The North Wing

Newly rebuilt and restored from dereliction, the North Wing offers great possibilities for catalogue shoots and advertising

A remarkable range of characterful historic buildings are located around the estate – gate houses, brick stable buildings, garden structures and game larder



Set in breathtaking parkland full of ancient oaks with its 150 acre lake and acres of woodland and gardens, it has been used many times by photographers and film makers.
