Ceremonies

THE GLASSHOUSE at Combermere Abbey is a magical place to hold such an important event in your lives.  Whether for a civil marriage, civil partnership or naming ceremony, you have its exclusive use.

The clean elegant lines of this light and airy space are enhanced by the powerful beauty of the gardens which surround it.  The ring of ancient trees towering on the skyline and the view through the world's only fruit tree maze down the avenue of crab apples, cherry blossom and hornbeams is simply unparalleled..

The centre of the maze has now been paved and all couples marrying between April and October have the option of an outside ceremony!  Blessings following the Civil Ceremony can be held in the gardens.

The Space

The Glasshouse is licensed for all civil marriage ceremonies and seats up to 120 for the ceremony alone.  Catering and cloakrooms are attached. A dressing room is provided for the Bride and Groom.  It is available all year round.  Between March and December,  all receptions and wedding breakfasts are held in the Walled Garden Pavilion.

Winter Weddings

During January and February, the Glasshouse can accommodate ceremonies for smaller marriages from 4-60 guests, followed by a wedding breakfast.  The Glasshouse is not suitable for dancing.

Music

The acoustics in the space are wonderful, and music may be played before, as part of and following the Ceremony.  A sound system is available for your use.  We are happy to recommend live musicians.
