Bluebells Galore at The Abbey
Annual Walk and Open Garden - April 15th
On Sunday, 15th
April, Combermere Abbey Estate is hosting its annual two mile Bluebell Walk
Event, a fun day out for the whole family. The event gives visitors the rare opportunity
to visit the beautiful location of the C12th Combermere Abbey. Walk through dappled
woodlands, beside the picturesque lake, enjoying the sensory delights of carpets
of these fragrant blue native flowers.
The Abbey's
walled garden with its magnificently restored Glasshouse will also be open for
guests to enjoy - walk through the world's only fruit tree maze, an espaliered
labyrinth of redcurrants, gooseberries and over 25 varieties of apple and pear
tree, its blossoms are a sight to behold.
Visitors are
welcome to bring canine friends on a lead but please note that dogs are not
permitted in the Walled Gardens. For garden lovers, there will be a Spring
Plant Sale, and delicious hot and cold refreshments are available for all to
enjoy.
Gates will
open at 1pm and registration for the last walk is at 4pm. The event will close
at 5pm. Please wear appropriate footwear for
woodland walking and kindly note that the woodland paths are not suited to
prams and pushchairs.
Admission
costs for the Bluebell Walk are: Adults £5; Children under 16 - £2
Free for babies in carriers. Parking is free of charge.
Combermere
Abbey Estate is a privately owned historic estate and family home, with luxury
holiday cottages and wedding and events venue. It is located between Nantwich,
in Cheshire and
Whitchurch, in Shropshire on the A530.
