Award-winning Combermere Abbey can now offer guests an even greater choice of luxurious self catering accommodation. Three beautifully refurbished cottages will join the existing collection of 7 cottages, offering stylish, contemporary and larger living spaces, particularly suited to groups of family and friends. The new cottages will each sleep between 4 and 10 guests, bringing the total guest capacity at Combermere Abbey cottages from 27 to 49 in total!
New "Crossley" sleeps up to 10 guests, and is the result of two smaller cottages being converted into one, offering superb light and spacious accommodation. It boasts five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a shower room, and sitting room, as well as a separate ‘media' room.
"Malbanc" is most impressive and whilst it sleeps 8 - it offers dining for up to 16 - making it an ideal option to rent alongside another cottage for your group gathering. This cottage has many original design features, a large sitting room with a wood burning stove, a dramatic high-ceilinged dining room, up to the minute kitchen, its own private garden and BBQ area. It has four bedrooms and three bathroom/shower rooms.
Finally, "Callander" is a conversion of the original coach house, a lovely light-filled cottage sleeping up to 4 guests, with two bedrooms, shared bathroom with shower room, large sitting/dining room and modern kitchen, with its own garden.
Each of the new cottage interiors has a classic-contemporary style with antiques seamlessly blended with modern pieces.
In keeping with our Green Tourism ‘Gold' Award credentials, we actively encourage a stay-at-home day, so that you may simply relax and cut down on the carbon miles and stress of driving. We are close to Crewe station, only 11 miles by taxi, should you choose to leave your car at home altogether. Sink into a more leisurely rhythm and absorb the sensory natural beauty of this historic estate. Holistic spa treatments can be arranged in the privacy of your cottage.
Dining courtesy of caterers can be arranged for special evenings in, with complementary wines available. There's also a lovely gourmet pub just across from the Abbey's entrance gates, if you wish to venture out. Groups taking all of our cottages also have the option of hiring The Glasshouse, a spectacular restored green house in the Walled Gardens, in the heart of the world's only fruit tree maze.
Outdoor activities are plentiful without even leaving the 1000 acre estate and include long walks through woodlands and parkland, lake swimming in the warmer months (or for the brave!), coarse fishing, tennis and cycling. Dogs are also welcome. There is plenty within an hour's drive of Combermere too - including the historic towns of Nantwich, Chester and Shrewsbury.
