Callander
Approaching the archway entrance to the Stables, the eye is immediately drawn to the impressive coach house doors. Cleverly disguised in the right hand set of doors is the courtyard entrance to Callander Cottage. Named as a tribute to the Scottish ancestry of the current owner, Sarah Callander Beckett, this lovely light cottage has been completely redecorated throughout and introduces a clean contemporary feel giving a calm and relaxing effect. You step directly into a spacious room with high ceilings, large light windows and impressive carved fireplace surrounding the gas fire. It is set up as a sitting room with dining area and decorated in quiet hues of mauve, café au lait and eau de nil and has views onto the cobbled courtyard as well as the gardens behind.
Directly off the sitting room is the kitchen, well equipped with state of the art appliances. The fridge/freezer, oven, dishwasher and washing machine are all cleverly integrated giving a sleek and modern feel. From the kitchen you step outside into a small private garden and pathway to the beautiful Walled Garden and car parking area. Views onto lawn and beech hedges give a sense of privacy. Upstairs off a central passageway there are two lovely light bedrooms with high ceilings and oak beams and a large shared bathroom with separate shower and bath. Impressively contemporary, it is tiled throughout and has a heated towel rail.
The double bedroom mixes large prints of parrot tulips with strong plain linens and a hit of fur over the large super kingsize bed. The well-designed cupboard and dressing table/desk complete the room. Views from the bedroom show the ancient walls of the gardens and different seasonal colours of the Pleasure Garden arboretum.
The twin room has a fresh green palette of floral and stripe fabrics and hints of golden pine from the doors. The single beds, set against a connected headboard which also doubles as a shelf for personal belongings, can be made into a double bed. There is also built in cupboard and dressing table/desk.
This elegant cottage is equipped with wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD/Video player, and music system and can be rented individually for between 2-4 persons or as part of a larger group booking. The private garden space has a table, chairs and parasol for quiet moments and an evening cocktail.

The conversion of this cottage was supported by the Rural Development Programme for England, for which Defra is the Managing Authority, part financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas.
