FOODIE BREAKS AT COMBERMERE

Join us for a two night stay at Combermere Abbey's luxe holiday cottages, combined with a hands-on course at one of two excellent local cookery schools, Brian Mellor's Harthill Cookery School or Maynard's Farm near Shrewsbury.

Maynard's Farm in Shropshire offers two courses, An Introduction to Artisan Breadmaking with Craig Sandiford and Butchery and Curing with Rob Cunningham. Succumb to the joy of kneading, shaping and rolling, exploring traditional bread making with Craig. Local ingredients such as Pimhill Organic stoneground wholemeal flour and Mr Moyden's butter are used and baked in a traditional wood-fired oven.    Rob Cunningham, the Farm's co-owner runs the butchery and curing course and he will guide you through the butchery skills to present a side of pork, as well as making your own sausages and dry curing bacon.

Master Chef Brian Mellor's full day courses at his quaint Harthill Cookery School set high in the Cheshire hills, include an Intensive Baking course. In the course of one day you will master several basic baking skills, producing cookies, a quiche, tuille biscuits and foccaccia bread, other courses include an Introduction to Indian Cuisine and Dinner Party courses, themes of which include Seasonal Game, A Feast of Fish and Valentine Virtuoso.

Full day Courses, inc exclusive 10% for Combermere's guests, are £112.50 at Harthill Cookery School and £85.50 at Maynard's Farm Barn, including lunch and extra goodies, with accommodation in a cottage to sleep up to 4, priced from just £260.
