The perfect countryside retreat, Combermere Abbey’s 10 luxury holiday cottages which are nestled on the Cheshire, Shropshire border are the perfect balance of privacy and luxury. Beautifully appointed and individually designed, the onsite cottages are ideal for families, couples and even solo travellers.

Experience the tranquillity of the Combermere Abbey estate with a wonderful selection of family friendly activities and historical attractions close to hand, you will be spoilt for things to do in the surrounding areas of Cheshire and Shropshire. You can even spend the day on the estate and enjoy woodland walks or quiet strolls through the pleasure gardens before cosying up in your cottage for the night.

Courtyard Cottages

Set in the heart of the estate, our 9 idyllic dog-friendly Courtyard Cottages are Grade II listed and were converted from the 19th century Combermere stables. Each of our holiday cottages has been individually designed and decorated, and ranging in size, can sleep between 4 and 10 guests.

Stone Lodge is an independent cottage, sitting on the edge of the estate, and features private parking, a large enclosed back garden and terrace – perfect for children to play, and making it a secure setting for dogs to explore.

Malbanc Cottage

ELEGANT AND IMPRESSIVE – SLEEPS 8 

A wonderful cottage for entertaining, Malbanc is perfect for groups of eight and can dine up to 16 when taken with other cottages with its accommodating dining area. Its sophisticated design and impressive architectural features make it an instant hit with families and larger groups of friends.

Cotton Cottage

PERFECTLY PICTURESQUE – SLEEPS 4

As you approach the restored stables, Cotton Cottage with its Jacobean style turret, mullion windows and private garden comes into view. Originally the Coachman’s house, the main double bedroom features a splendid four poster bed.

Callander Cottage

TRANQUILLITY AT COMBERMERE – SLEEPS 4

Light and airy, Callander cottage is a contemporary choice, its entrance cleverly disguised in the impressive coach house doors. Named as a tribute to the Scottish ancestry of the current owner, Sarah Callander Beckett, this lovely Cheshire holiday cottage has a fresh, calm colour palette and is the perfect place for a relaxing break.

Stapleton Cottage

Stapleton Cottage has cleverly integrated features of the original Tack Room, showing off the oak beams, high ceilings and long windows. One of its bedrooms is on the ground floor with a contemporary shower room, specifically designed for disabled access.

Beckett Cottage

FAMILY TIME – SLEEPS 6

Decorated with an African theme throughout, Beckett Cottage is a popular choice for house parties, birthday celebrations, reunions, anniversaries and family gatherings but it also perfect for smaller groups from six. Its private terrace and seating area is perfect for outdoor entertaining. With its high ceilings, large windows, stone fireplace and original beams, this elegant cottage is a versatile gathering space.

Crossley Cottage

SPACIOUS AND VERSATILE – SLEEPS 10 (can be booked to sleep 6)

Formerly a complete wing of the original stables, Crossley Cottage offers luxurious, contemporary accommodation. The perfect holiday cottage for a group of friends or two families, each of the five bedrooms has its own bath or shower room.

Wellington Cottage

BRIMMING WITH CHARACTER – SLEEPS 5

With its original mullion windows and pointed turret, Wellington Cottage was designed by Edward Blore and built for the first Viscount Combermere in 1837. The cottage name remembers the famous Duke, who was Lord Combermere’s mentor and godfather to his eldest son. The romance of the picturesque exterior continues inside with a warm colour palette and Gothic four-poster bed.

Poole Cottage

COSY AND INVITING – SLEEPS 4

Poole Cottage is a wonderful bolthole for those looking to relax and recharge. Sleeping up to four, the pretty hideaway dining room can easily entertain up to eight when booked with another holiday cottage for four.

Empress Cottage

A ROMANTIC CHOICE – SLEEPS 4

Named after Elizabeth, Empress of Austria who described Combermere as ‘one of the most romantic places in Europe’ during her visit, Empress Cottage is just that. The master bedroom houses a highly decorative gilded half tester bed pelmet with rich gold and black fabrics.
